Les Chants de bataille - Jac Berrocal

filmmaker : Guy Girard
Composer : Jac Berrocal
France, 2003

The past and travel are what fuel Jac Berrocal’s radically ground-breaking music. Drawing on the 20th century in its entirety, he snatches sounds from Palmyra, Honfleur and Kabul, and from an ancestor in Verdun, wielding them all as weapons to create his tirelessly experimental war cries. He is an inventive artist, caught in a scuffle between outrage and excess, and loyally bound to his fellow musicians. This film takes you to poetic depths, showing Guy Girard at the top of his game.
