Synopsis

Glimpses of the soundtrack recording sessions reveal to us here a winding process, redolent of the river running through “Route One USA”: weeks of studio work, hours of recording, endless different versions, all rigorously attuned to the images and edited to each sequence, one by one. This film sees its music slip away as it makes off down stretches of road, like memory losing track, heading towards separation: “an experience that remains inconclusive”; “our dreams are the first to go”.

Robert Kramer
