Cameroonian filmmaker Ariane Astrid Atodji invites us to spend a week in Koundi, a village nestled in the Equatorial forest. Keeping the camera at just the right distance, and picking up a sensual palette of sounds, she lets us in on the local conflicts and romance, day by day, bringing us to the heart of the action. This includes ‘National Thursday’, when every villager must offer a day’s work to the community. Yet the communal timber plantation is coming to an end.
