Winning two awards at the Cinéma du Réel festival in Paris, Examen d'Etat is undoubtedly one of the most significant films in recent years. This is the next step in Dieudo Hamadi’s study of Congolese society, which began with Atalaku, his first film, an eye-opening analysis of the workings and stakes of the presidential elections. Here Hamadi focuses on the young generation he knows so well, faced with the senseless contradictions of a country undergoing profound change.

Dieudo Hamadi

Réalisateur né en 1984 à Kisangani, en République démocratique du Congo, Dieudonné Hamadi a commencé par des études de médecine, avant de se former au cinéma dans divers ateliers de documentaire et de montage. Déjà repéré pour son court-métrage "Dames en attente" en 2009, il réalise en 2013 son premier long-métrage, "Atalaku", un film sur la campagne électorale congolaise de 2012. En 2014, avec "Examen d’État", il suit des lycéens empêchés de passer l’équivalent du baccalauréat faute de pouvoir payer leurs professeurs. Dieudo Hamadi reçoit le Grand prix du Cinéma du réel en 2017 pour "Maman Colonelle". En 2018 son nouveau film "Kinshasa Makambo" connaît un très grand succès dans les festivals internationaux.
