Notes from a Kurdish Rebel

Stefano Savona
France, Italy, 2006

As a filmmaker, Stefano Savona clearly sets out to reflect stories showing people in a state of resistance. Yet when he ventures into the territory of those fighting against injustice to protect their own freedom and survival, then his work enters the realm of political engagement. This is his first film, for which he gained permission to join a group of Kurdish freedom fighters on a long journey by foot. The truth speaks out, not from secret admissions but a shared view mixing doubt and conviction, fears and beliefs.
