This film essay sees Patricio Guzmán return untiringly once again to the modern history of Chile to sift through the memory of its past. Highly complex in structure, it subtly and discerningly mixes political and philosophical thinking, all tied up with poetic string that takes great delight in threading its way cleverly through unexpected associations. "Nostalgia For The Light” is undoubtedly Guzmán’s most personal film to date: it explores a style and an approach to form and editing that make a clean break from his previous work.
