This is a cult film we watched to death on VHS back in the day, ages before videos hit the internet. L'Île Aux Fleurs crams in an amazingly well-balanced and concise joke-encyclopaedic account of trade exchange, of how it takes advantage of a man’s honest work, of the waste produced by our ludicrous lifestyles and all the unbearable injustices that ensue. Never has a film packed such a forcefully spot-on punch. It will knock your socks off.
