This film is like a poetic picture book of daily life to help us understand a particular place. Here, in Minas Gerais, Daniel Lentini’s camera picks out the details that make up the here and now of life in this little city and the surrounding countryside. Farm work, pushed along by gestures and actions, sprawling landscapes, silences that reveal what is happening out of frame, or memories that now look like small anecdotes, all knit the past together with the present. Time stands still, waiting for some event to emerge between prayers and “little deaths”.
