Thanks to Eddy Munyanez’s journalistic eye, we see a pivotal chapter in Burundi’s recent history, which received little media coverage. Munyanez shot footage of the protests in his homeland and then made it into this film, once safely abroad, far from his own people and their daily lives, shaken by the popular uprising. This film diary documents reality and becomes a political act in itself: the personal commitment of a filmmaker cut off from the events that changed the fate of his country and family.
