This film portrays the wrench of being in exile, and forms a diptych when paired with "Vacances au Sénégal". Filmmaker François Christophe acts as an intermediary between his friend Yelli, an illegal immigrant living in Italy, and his family back in Senegal. What we see is a filmed letter addressed to his homeland, giving news and trying to clear up misunderstandings on both sides. Cinema links the distance that separates, and those being filmed with the audience, and the screen becomes a seam between us and the world.
